Non c’è che dire, quella che sta per affrontare lo Swich Boy Nico Manoussakis è proprio una bella avventura!
Si tratta di un bel tour de force nel sud più profondo del mondo, si tratta di macinare una valanga di chilometri, ma si tratta di una avventura molto bella che vi riporto esattamente come lui stesso l’ha descritta, in italiano e inglese!
“Due South:
Ed e’ proprio verso sud che mi sto’ dirigendo! Sabato, infatti partirò’ alla volta di Johannesburg per allenarmi in altura in vista della prima serie di 4 gare sulla mia distanza preferita di 10 km in acque libere. Il programma di allenamento sara’ duro, come sara’ impegnativo nuotare contro campioni del calibro di Chad Ho (IV posto alle Olimpiadi di Beijing e medaglia di bronzo nel 2009 ai mondiali di Roma) e di Troyden Prinsloo (Olimpiadi di Beijing). La prima gara prevista sara’ in casa, a Johannesburg il 7-8 Novembre. Il 16 Novembre mi trasferito’ nella splendida cornice di Marina Martinique, Jeffrey Bay, patria del surf, e gareggerò’ la prestigiosa Metsi Open Water (gara a cui ha partecipato, in passato, anche Martina Grimaldi) per poi spostarmi a est e partecipare, il 22 Novembre alla Capital K, a Midmar, nel Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Due settimane di allenamenti in altura per poi raggiungere Grabouw, Western Cape e gareggiare nell’ultima 10 km dell’anno, valida per la selezione alle nazionali sud-africane.
Ritornero’ nell’emisfero boreale in tempo per augurare a tutti un Buon Natale. Mi raccomando: rimanete connessi per i risultati !!!”

And it is just to south that I will fly! Saturday, in fact, I will leave Firenze to train at altitude ,in Johannesburg, in order to prepare the first series of 4 races on my favorite distance of 10 km open water. The training program will be hard, as it will be a challenge to swim against Chad Ho (fourth place at the Beijing Olympics and bronze medal in 2009 at the World Championships in Rome) and Troyden Prinsloo (Beijing Olympics). The first scheduled race will be at home, in Johannesburg on the 7th-8th of November. On November 16th, I will fly to the beautiful surroundings of Marina Martinique in Jeffrey Bay, home of some of the most important surfing competitions, and I will race the prestigious Metsi Open Water (race in which Martina Grimaldi has participated in the past as well) and then, on the 22nd of November, I will move towards east to race the Capital K, Midmar, in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Two weeks of training at altitude before reaching Grabouw, Western Cape and compete in the last 10 km of the year.
